ACTON PHARMACEUTICALS, INC. ANNOUNCES ADDITIONS TO THE EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM


MARLBOROUGH, Mass., May 5, 2011 - Acton Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty respiratory pharmaceutical company, announced today the appointments of Kenneth Newman, MD to the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Thomas Phair, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer.

About Kenneth Newman, MD

Most recently, Dr. Newman was a Vice President at Boehringer Ingelheim, responsible for all therapeutic categories and prior to that, he spent 9 years at Forest Laboratories in charge of pulmonary clinical development. Dr. Newman is a pulmonologist who was on the faculty at the National Jewish Hospital in Denver, as well as Director of the University of Cincinnati Center for Asthma, Allergies and Sinus Disorders. He has a B.S. from Duke, M.D. from the University of Texas, and trained at Duke, Johns Hopkins, and NIH. Dr. Newman is responsible for all research, development and medical activities at Acton.

About Tom Phair

Tom Phair is responsible for all financial, accounting, audit, and HR functions at Acton. Previously, Tom was Vice President of Finance at Xcellerex, Inc., a supplier of manufacturing technology to the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to that, Tom was Vice President of Finance, Treasurer and Principal Financial Officer at Altus Pharmaceuticals where he was responsible for strategic planning, finance and accounting, legal, and information technology, and led several strategic fund-raising initiatives. Tom also served as Corporate Controller at ArQule, Inc., an early-stage oncology drug development company and has held financial management positions at PAREXEL, Nashua Corporation and Price Waterhouse. Tom received a BBA in accounting from the University of Massachusetts and is a Certified Public Accountant.
